I could be Debbie's new best friend
When the vicar and his family went back to New York a few weeks ago, they blessed us with several large boxes of food. They didn't want to have to worry about getting hassled going across the border with it all, so they packed up everything that they had left in their fridge, freezer and cupboards and gave it all to us.
Among the many goodies, there were 6 boxes of tea! There is peach tea, raspberry tea, camomile tea, peppermint tea, "SleepyTime" tea (I am going to try this tonight) and a full, unopened box of Twinnings English Breakfast tea. My favourite!
I'm not a huge tea drinker - I drink it more in the winter - and I already had a box of green tea, a box of chai tea and an economy sized bag of plain black tea in my cupboard, so I literally have enought tea to keep me going now for close to a decade!
I'm thinking I should have a tea party...I've never had one before though. Can anyone give me some suggestions for having a tea party? You're supposed to serve those little sandwiches, aren't you? I don't have any actual tea cups, just coffee cups and mugs. Is it ok to use those? Otherwise I could borrow a set from my mom. And then, when everybody comes, do you just...drink tea? And talk I suppose, but are you supposed to have some kind of games or anything? (Or is that a baby shower I'm thinking of?)
Ok, ladies, let me have it! What are your suggestions for my tea party?

YIPEE!!! I will be back for this when time permits!!
I am not a big tea drinker, but I would drink it if you served it with little sandwiches and tasty little tarts. Oh, yes I would!
Ahem..........
Now....
I wish I could come to your party!
If I were having it I would dress my table with the prettiest lace tablecloths I could find. Fresh flowers are another favorite. These items seem to make the ladies feel pampered.
If you don't have tea cups, then maybe you could suggest each guest bring their own, if not, your prettiest mugs can be used.
Some like sugar cubes and cream (milk) I have this on the table as well. Instead of making complete pots of tea, you could let the guest choose a tea bag and then pour the hot water from your lovely chintz pot.... :)
You could serve petite lemon or poppyseed cupcakes, .....or any flavor for that matter. :)
Homemade pimento cheese, cucumber sandwiches, watercress, or chicken salad cut into small portions are a few ideas.
Having fruit spread and flavored butters like strawberry are also some of my favorites. These of course being used for the mini cupcakes or muffins of your choosing.
Oh please, please, please take pics if you decide to do this....
I am thinking of doing a Christmas tea this year......still thiking.........
Oh, and some small trays of cookies and/or other small tarts are a nice touch too!
Sounds like a LOT of fun. Can I come? Do you think my hubby will think a trip to Canada for a tea party is a bit silly?? ;O)
