Romans 8:38-39

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation , will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39)

First of all, the verse says “I am CONVINCED”. It doesn’t say “I think so” or “I’m pretty sure”. It says “convinced”, so I can be sure of these things.

Death:
Our death cannot separate us from God because Christ defeated death.

Life:
When life is good to us, we can be tempted to turn away from God and “go it alone”. Still, God never gives up on us and continues to call us back to Him.

When life is hard, we know that God is still in control and that he holds us in his hand.

Angels or demons:
Supernatural powers try to distract us from loving God and sometimes they even succeed. But they can NEVER succeed in distracting God from loving us.

Past or present:
Time—past, present or future—cannot separate me from God’s love because God is eternal. Because of Jesus, what I have done in the past cannot separate me from God’s love. Satan may try to trick me into thinking this, but not even my guilty conscience can separate me from the love of God.

Any powers:
God created the universe. Who is more powerful than him? There is no other power that is strong enough to separate me from God’s love.

Height or depth:
There is no where I can go in the whole world—or even the entire universe—where I will be able to escape God’s love for me. Whether I am feeling “on top of the world” or “in the depths of despair” God's love for me never ceases.

Anything else in all creation:
God’s love for me is so limitless and unending that there is nothing in all creation that will be able to come between me and God’s love for me. Not sickness, not pain, not war. Not Satan’s tricks, or my own foolish wisdom. Not disappointment, not sorrow, not fear. Not the scorn of others and not persecution. No being, no force—nothing is capable of separating me from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Because I live by faith, I strive to be faithful. Because sin encumbers me, I really don't do "faithful" all that well. Never mind. HE is faithful and that is what matters.
