Second-hand smoke
A couple of days ago I started smelling cigarette smoke. I was at work when I first noticed it and initially I thought somebody was smoking outside and a door or window was open somewhere. The smell was quite strong and unpleasant. I smelled it the whole afternoon until I went home.
Yesterday I could smell it again, not as strong but I smelled it for most of the time I was at work.
Today I noticed the smell almost as soon as I got to the office and I smelled it all day. I asked around, but nobody else smelled anything. I started thinking it was all in my head.
Except I'm home now and I can still smell smoke. It's so frustrating
I began to wonder if maybe something is wrong with me so I looked it up on the internet and it looks like its a fairly common medical phenomenon. The most likely cause is.either a sinus infecion or a brain tumor. So I'm kinda hoping for a sinus infection.
Anyways, I guess I'm going to have to live with the revolting smell of smoke for a few more days until I can get in to see the doctor. Yuck.

Anita,
I'm praying for you.
Ah - yes...olfactory hallucinations! Aren't they *odd*?!?!? Mine, which I have quite regularly, occasionally take an unexpected twist and I smell Cinnamon of all things. Usually, though, I smell burning electrical wires. The cinnamon is much better - once I determine it's just a hallucination.
They *can* be a precursor to migraine or temporal lobe seizures. Have you ever had a migraine?
Chances are that it's *not* a tumah.
Praying, and praying, and praying - for it to go away and for the cause to be benign!
much love,
Kari
weird. But you mostly just smelled it while at work? Is anyone doing any work in the building? welding or anything like that?
I'm the same exact way with cigarette smoke. I can smell it a mile away, it seems. At work, if someone is smoking near a vent, it can easily make its way up several floors. But, definitely get it checked by your doctor!
Hmmmm.....you know, I have had that happen to me before. It could have been perfume or a candle fragrance that I smelled and it stayed with me for hours.
*raises hand* Allergic to fragrance here - no perfume, scented deodorants, scented lotions, candles, etc. and no brain tumor yet! *wink* Although some might argue I *act* like I have one.
Hang in there, kiddo. I'm sure it is nothing. God's got you in the palm of His hand. All is well regardless.
Are you still smelling it? When's your doc's appt.?
Still smelling it on and off but nothing like last week. Drs appt next Monday. (It was booked a while ago for an unrelated matter.)
