I am outside on the back porch listening to it rain. Its coming down pretty steady. Ever since I've been little I have liked to be out under shelter while its raining. I don't know what it is exactly but there is something about it that makes me feel cozy and safe.

Its been storming for a couple of hours now. We had some real scary winds earlier as well as thunder and lightening but its just raining now. We are still under a severe thunderstorm/tornado warning though I think the worst is over. For now it is cool and less humid out - a welcome respite.

I have the lights down low so as not to attract insects here where I am sitting. There's a couple of big, hairy moths (shudder!) hanging around the door, attracted to the light inside I suppose.

I'm just about ready to head up to bed. Don't laugh (Sara!). I don't actually go to sleep this early. It takes me a few minutes to get my jamas on and brush my teeth etc. Then I either read my bible (currently reading Acts - in my NKJV study bible) or sometimes I read commentary material. Or, if I'm in the middle of a particularly good novel I read that *grin* but - try not to do that too often. I like reading the bible, but its also a habit...a discipline if you will - and one I'm thankful for so I try to nurture it and not let something else replace it.

Anyways, I read for about half an hour and then I fluff up my pillows, put my earplugs in, turn out the lights ans lie down to pray. Now THAT is a bad habit that I wish I hadn't developed because I often drift off to sleep while I am in prayer! (But I must admit that the reason that I find it a hard habit to break is that I find it peaceful falling asleep while praying. My thoughts are serene, focussed on God's goodness and mercy and off I go...)

Well, speaking of which, its time I headed up. The cat is meowing loudly at me to let me know that its past bedtime. I am not the only creature of habit around here! G'night, all.

Hello!!!

What a wonderful peaceful place you have at home!! I, too, love to sit and watch/listen to the rain falling. There's just something magical about it...

Goodnight my friend!

Love,
Lisa

Oh, rain! What's that again? It sounds familiar but I just can't place it.

Enjoy!

You and I share the same weather nearly all the time. Two nights ago I was hoping it would rain so I could open all the windows. It happened last night and I just lay sprawled the wrong way across my bed in the semi-dark listening to the sound of water and wind.

I also have the same bedtime routine. AND it's been getting earlier and earlier... Anyway, right now I'm in Revelation and I'm reading a book about the history of the church.

I liked this glimpse into your life. Thank you.

This really is an interesting stage of life I'm in. I discovered about 1/2 hour ago that Jack peed in my mop bucket. At least it wasn't the laundry basket. ;)

Or the litter box.

Bwahahahaha!

I'm never going to live the laundry basket down, am I? ;)

That was one of the funniest things I ever heard so nope.

oh and I neglected to tell you about why, as of last week, we do not have a sandbox in our backyard.

Oh I am with you! I love listening to the rain and I always fall asleep in prayer. I purposely pray if I wake up in the middle of the night so that I can get back to sleep. Wait. That kinda sounds selfish but I don't mean it that way. It's just....peaceful communication with the Lord, I guess.

Ok, now i am dying to know: am I really not the only person who's cat has confused the laundry basket with the litter box. Really?? cuz I thought that it was just me!

Ah, kitkat, I only WISH it was the cats who confused the laundry basket with the litter box. Alas, we are talking about my BOYS who when they were very young used both the litter box AND the laundry sink to pee in when they didn't feel like going all the way upstairs.

Doesn't it make you glad you're a girl?

LOL! It STILL makes me laugh! Tell it again.

I fall asleep almost every night during prayers too. It used to really upset me and then I thought about what a wonderful peaceful way that was and so now it's something I look forward to at the end of the day...when I can sleep now, that is.

I love listening to the rain too. It always relaxes me.

Do you wear earplugs for the same reason my hubby wears them? (I snore!) :-O

I fall asleep at night while praying also, but sometimes the Lord wakes me up later with someone on my mind, so I pray for them and go back to sleep. I agree it is peaceful going to sleep with your mind on God. :)

Thank you for your prayers for Carissa. We are so happy and thankful she is well!
